Ministry of Prayer

Each day there is an intercession provided. Pray that day's intercession then pray the novena prayer.

Day 1

Today we pray for the whole of Western Washington Parish, every soul, every family, every Christian, every Catholic, every active parishioner. That we all may enter deeper into the life of conversion Christ calls us to that we may be His disciples. 

Day 2

Today we pray for our Christian brothers and sisters who have grown up in the faith of Christ, who know and love Christ through their knowledge and love of Scripture. We pray that there be no division and that we all may be unified under the one banner of Christ in the Church. 

Day 3

Today we pray for our Catholic brothers and sisters who have left the faith either by choice or by the apathy of inaction. We pray that they may return to the life of Christ that was instilled in them at baptism, that they may seek God's mercy and know the depths of His love for them.

Day 4

Today we pray for our Catholic brothers and sisters who are lukewarm or cold in their faith. They see themselves as Catholic but do not live their lives in the life of the Church or only do so occasionally. We pray that they may experience the zeal of a revitalized faith, and that the good work that was begun in them may find completion. 

Day 5

Today we pray for our brothers and sisters who attend Mass most or all Sundays, that their fidelity to the life of Christ may increase and their desire for heaven be magnified so they may become full disciples of Christ active in faith, hope, and charity.

Day 6

Today we pray for all the families of our parish, that division may cease, that their communal lives be a school of love, and that they may all be images of the Holy Family in joy, peace, fidelity, and obedience to the Father.

Day 7

Today we pray for all of the youth of our parish, who are under constant bombardment with the things of this world and the trappings of a life outside of Christ. We pray that they may grow in faith, be steadfast in the midst of difficulty, and above all may know and rest in the great gift of their own dignity as children of our Heavenly Father.

Day 8

Today we pray for all parents (both material and spiritual), that they may witness to their children God's love, mercy, tenderness, and justice. We pray also that in their vocation as parents they may seek out Christ in their work and allow every moment both at home and at work to be a means for the glory of God.

Day 9

Today we pray for the sick, the elderly, the neglected, and the addicted of our parish. Often forgotten, let them know God's love and care for them through the witness of our parishioners. Grant them healing, strength, peace, and freedom to glorify God above all things. 

Novena Prayer

O Holy Spirit, O my God, we adore You, and acknowledge, here in Your divine presence, that we are nothing and can do nothing without You. Come, great Paraclete, You father of the poor, You comforter the best, fulfill the promise of our blessed Savior, Who would not leave us orphans, and come into the minds and the hearts of Your poor, unworthy creatures, as You did descend on the sacred day of Pentecost on the holy Mother of Jesus and on His first disciples. Grant that we may participate in those gifts which You did communicate to them so wonderfully, and with so much mercy and generosity. Take from our hearts whatever is not pleasing to You, and make of them a worthy dwelling-place for Yourself. Illumine our minds, that we may see and understand the things that are for our eternal good. Inflame our hearts with pure love of You, that we may be cleansed from the dross of all inordinate attachments, and that our whole lives may be hidden with Jesus in God. Strengthen our wills, that we may be made conformable to Your divine will, and be guided by Your holy inspirations. Aid us by Your grace to practice the divine lessons of humility, poverty, obedience, and contempt of the world, which Jesus taught us in His mortal life.

Oh, rend the heavens, and come down, consoling Spirit! that inspired and encouraged by You, we may faithfully comply with the duties of our state, carry our daily crosses most patiently, and endeavor to accomplish the divine will with the utmost perfection. Spirit of love! Spirit of purity! Spirit of peace! Sanctify our souls more and more, and give us that heavenly peace which the world cannot give. Bless our Holy Father the Pope, bless the Church, bless our bishops, our priests, all religious orders, and all the faithful, that they may be filled with the spirit of Christ and labor earnestly for the spread of His kingdom.

O Holy Spirit, You Giver of every good and perfect gift, grant us, we beseech You, the intentions of this novena. May Your will be done in us and through us. May You be praised and glorified forevermore!  Amen.
